Thayer Design Studio is looking for an effective, independent creative with proven leadership skills and a diverse background to join our team as an Interior Designer.

This candidate will support our Lead Designer and work closely with our design team from conceptual design, presentations, and sourcing, to project management and installation.

This is a full time, in-studio position.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ownership of assigned projects managing client expectations, presentations, vendors, workrooms and construction partners.

  • Execute the TDS design standards in a considered and responsible manner, balancing each property’s unique needs with the company’s larger goals

  • Conduct site measures and create or modify plans as required.

  • Creation of client facing design presentation materials and internal construction documents. Ability to clearly articulate ideas at design meeting.

  • Update presentation boards as clients navigate the design process

  • Sourcing of unique and relevant materials for all assigned projects including fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, accessories, furniture and lighting

  • Create and maintain selection sheets with corresponding spec sheet package for trades

  • Project manage assigned projects to ensure a timely completion date. Oversee final installs to the client's satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience in interior design - Portfolio Required!

  • Highly detail oriented and organized with effective verbal and written communication

  • Understand and effectively communicate blueprints and site plans

  • Knowledge of interior products and materials

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area

  • Experience working in Revit required. Experience in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape software preferred but not required.

  • Experience in accurately estimating and quoting materials, custom furniture, upholstery, cabinetry, and millwork

  • Minimum 2+ years of project management experience of residential or commercial jobs.

  • Project focused and self-motivated, with strong problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills, customer service, and a “can do” attitude

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced/ebb and flow environment

  • Ability to lift 50+lbs

  • Valid MA driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle for making deliveries/running errands
